To have a life of meaning and hope

Standing at the crossroads of the twilight road, I look back on the years that have shaped my life and become immersed in deep introspection.

From the turbulent days of liberation and the Korean War, to the April 19, May 16, and Gwangju Democratization movements, life’s journey has been a series of trials and tribulations, much like the life of Jacob in the Bible.

Now, as I ponder the remaining chapters of my life, my most earnest wish is to live with purpose and meaning, grounded in unwavering faith.

Reflecting on the beginnings of the world, we recognize its rich historical process continues even today.

Even now, the past, present, future, dreams, and hopes intertwine to form a complex narrative characterized by the cycle of birth and death.
This reminds us that today holds importance not only for its immediacy but also for its connection to the vastness of time.

In the narrative of our lives, no day is as precious as today.
This very moment, with all its complexities and fresh opportunities, represents the pinnacle of existence.
Time flows relentlessly, never to be regained, urging us to release the burdens of hatred and resentment that weigh down our relationships.
If we open our eyes to this truth, we can seize the potential for growth and transformation each day brings.

To embark on a journey of meaning and purpose, we must strive to illuminate our souls, reflecting the brilliance of the sunlit sky.
Let us follow the principles of the sages, radiating like stars that illuminate the night sky while constantly pioneering our own beliefs.
Just as the wind and clouds dance in harmony, our lives flow with grace and adaptability, embracing the winds of change while staying rooted in our core beliefs.

Time propels us forward in an unstoppable flow, like an endless river.
The world evolves and changes, leaving traces of the past.
To navigate this ever-changing landscape, we must release the weight of regret and the sighs that confine us to stagnation.
By cultivating a green heart like a verdant river or mountain, we can live in rhythm with nature.
Just as a river adapts to changing terrain, we too must give ourselves time to adapt, allowing growth to shape and move us.

As the years pass, we inevitably face life’s twists and turns, and our hearts may become wounded and weary.
Yet, in the end, the fires of hatred, resentment, and sorrow turn to ashes and disappear.
Looking at life’s ebb and flow, symbolized by the drifting clouds, we find comfort in knowing that our dreams, love, and hopes will transform into a radiant light.
They will serve as a guiding force that lights our path and inspires us to persevere.

In awe of the sky painted with vibrant sunset hues, reflecting the culmination of a day well-lived,
I long for rest in the Twilight Hills, where the deep red light merges with my soul.
Reflecting on the passage of time and the experiences that have shaped me reminds me of the values of the past, the significance of the present, and a steadfast hope for the future.
